Daniel Rubenstein, licensed Israeli tour guide
Daniel Rubenstein has spent his entire professional life at the nexus of politics, media, and education.
Before moving to Israel in 2011, Daniel worked for five years at AIPAC headquarters in Washington, DC, where he was the organization’s senior writer as well as the managing editor of its biweekly publication, Near East Report.
In 2012, at the age of 28, Daniel volunteered to be drafted into the Spokesperson’s Unit of the Israel Defense Forces, where he was the managing editor of the IDF’s social media platforms and a key architect of the IDF’s communications strategy during Operations Pillar of Defense (2012) and Protective Edge (2014). The story of his role in the 2014 conflict is told in the book War in 140 Characters by David Patrikarakos. Daniel continues to serve in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit as a reservist.
From 2013 to 2015, Daniel worked as an editor and researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, where he assisted Amb. Dore Gold and published a number of studies on Israeli security, diplomacy, and international law.
In 2015, Daniel compiled and edited a book of essays by former MK Einat Wilf entitled Winning the War of Words: Essays on Zionism and Israel.
Born in California, Daniel grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. He earned his B.A. in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was an op-ed columnist for the campus newspaper, The Daily Texan.
Today Daniel lives in Tel Aviv and works as a tour guide, lecturer, and political communications consultant.
